Thursday night, in game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Ottawa Senators fought really hard for a chance of the Stanley Cup.

In the end, the Penguins defeated the Senators in double overtime to return to the Stanley Cup finals as they are the current champs. Should the Penguins win, history repeats itself. Only this time, the champs will have to face the underdog but tough team the Nashville Predators. The Penguins have one person that they should worry about on the Predators. It’s not a certain player that the champs should worry about, but rather the head coach of the Predators; Peter Laviolette.

Laviolette has a very huge history with the Penguins. It was around the time when Laviolette became the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. Both of these Pennsylvania teams have a history of heated rivalry.

During his time with the Flyers, Laviolette led the team to an unexpected Stanley Cup run in 2010, which the Flyers came two games short as they were defeated by the Chicago Blackhawks. Although a great coach, he was fired in the beginning of the 2013-14 season when the Flyers started off 0-3.

The Stanley Cup Finals began last night with the Penguins taking a 1-0 series lead after a 5-3 victory. Either the Penguins will repeat as champs, or Laviolette’s knowledge Vs. the Penguins could slow them down.
