Eagles to Face Brock Osweiler Instead of Struggling Siemian this Sunday

The Denver Broncos made the much-rumored quarterback switch, announcing Brock Osweiler as their starter ahead of their matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Trevor Siemian¬†had thrown only two touchdowns (and six interceptions) his past three games and the Broncos lost all three of the matches, including falling to the much-maligned New York Giants. Viewed as a placeholder for 2016 first-round draft choice Paxton Lynch, Siemian’s leash was not long to begin with and it was believed if the Broncos struggled, he would be pulled.

However, since Lynch is still recovering from a shoulder injury, Osweiler will get the start.

Osweiler, the former second-round pick, had a brief period of success for the Broncos in 2015 when he took over for an injured Peyton Manning. He infamously rebuked the Broncos attempts to resign him and his career went on a downward spiral after that: he signed a three-year deal worth $45 million with the Texans, only to heavily struggle and ending with the quarterback being traded to the Cleveland Browns.

Now, he’s back starting at the only place he has found success: Denver.

However, this puts him in a difficult spot. The Broncos are already on a short week, and the Eagles defense just got finished wrecking Cam Newton and C.J. Beathard in back-to-back weeks.

This Sunday will be a baptism by fire for Brock Osweiler and further justifies why the Eagles are an eight point favorite.
