Even with Hairs Medunjanin out for two matches, because of his red against Atlanta FC, the Union were able to strive against the Vancouver Whitecaps and score 4 goals and also earn 3 points and a clean sheet.

2 goals were scored by the veteran Czech player, Borek Dockal. Dockal has now had 15 appearances with the Union and in those appearances, he had scored 5 goals while for the Union. Dockal has become a great scorer and playmaker for the Union despite being there for only a short period of time. It’s safe to say he has become a fan favorite. The other 2 goals against the Whitecaps were late PKs taken by Ilsinho (74’) and Fafa (90+’). Not only did the Whitecaps concede 4 goals but two of their players, Jose Manuel and Yordy Reyna were given a red card.

During halftime, Sebastien Le Toux was immortalized in the Union franchise Ring of Honor. Le Toux has made over 100 appearances scored 25 goals during his time with the Union. The French forward/winger left Philadelphia in 2016 and spent the last 2 years with Colorado Rapids and D.C. United.  Now at the end of his professional career, Le Toux came back to Philadelphia to retire and become the first honoree in the Union’s ever first Ring of Honor.

The Union is next headed to LA to play the brand new club LAFC. With only one away win this season, the Union is going to have to keep up this energy and momentum of a 2 game winning streak. The good news for Union fans is that LAFC’s star, Carlos Vela, won’t be there; for he is busy scoring goals for Mexico in Russia. Vela scored the only goal during Mexico’s match against 2014 World Cup Winners Germany and also scored against South Korea and helped his national team sit on top of their table. So Union fans don’t have to worry about LAFC’s number 10 forward, he won’t be there.
